What is NHIH?
The Nigeria Health Intelligence Hub (NHIH) is an independent, AI-powered platform that aggregates, analyses, and synthesises health information from across Nigeria — bringing together government agencies, academic research, international organisations, community voices, and public health surveillance into one continuously updated resource.
Nigeria produces an enormous volume of health information daily — NCDC situation reports, WHO bulletins, National Assembly health committee proceedings, state government announcements, academic papers, and grassroots community health reports. Most of this information is scattered across dozens of websites, hard to find, and harder still to connect into a coherent picture. NHIH exists to solve that problem.

How it works
- Ingests articles daily from RSS feeds and government websites, and weekly from international agency portals and the ReliefWeb humanitarian database
- Classifies each article using AI to determine its section, urgency, and health relevance
- Summarises articles in plain language so readers can quickly assess relevance
- Screens for potential misinformation, flagging suspicious claims for editorial review
- Extracts named entities — diseases, locations, organisations, people — to enable cross-referencing and trend detection
- Composes a weekly digest synthesising the most important developments across all sections
Nothing is published automatically. Every article passes through editorial review before appearing on the public site. The AI pipeline is a tool for editors — it does not replace human judgement.

Editorial principles
- Accuracy over speed. No article is published without editorial approval.
- Attribution always. Every article links to its original source. NHIH does not republish full article text.
- Transparency about AI. All AI-generated summaries are labelled as such.
- Independence. NHIH is not funded by any government, pharmaceutical company, or health organisation.
- No misinformation. Articles flagged as potentially misleading are withheld until an editor has reviewed them.
